Nigeria Weather, When to Go and Climate Information
(Nigeria, NG, West Africa)
Nigeria's tropical climate makes it an all-year-round tourist destination, with temperatures staying consistently hot. Having said that, the weather is perhaps most suitable for visiting towards the end of dry season, when temperatures and humidity are most comfortable.
April to October is the rainy season in Nigeria. It can rain particularly heavily in June, so visitors should take this into account when they're packing clothing and arranging excursions that may be limited by poor weather. Average temperatures during this time range from a low of 23°C / 74°F to a high of 30°C / 86°F.
Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go
The arrival of the rainy season can vary, and in the south, it mostly starts around April or May. In the north of the country, however, heavy rainfall may not put in an appearance until June or even July. By October, in most regions, the amount of rainfall begins to decrease.
Between November and March, the weather tends to be very hot and dry. In the south, average high temperatures can reach 32°C / 90°F or more. In north-eastern Nigeria, the appearance of the 'harmattan' wind from around February time can make temperatures feel cooler, although it does tend to create dusty conditions.
